As part of NLR’s thrust of developing sustainable local communities, NLR launched a sustainable tourism program that positions the wind farm as a strategic partner for activities and events that are sustainable and mindful of the environment, and also beneficial to the local economy of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. To launch this program, NLR hosted the first off-road running event in Ilocos Norte: “Run With The Wind” held on 18 February 2018 at the NLR Wind Farm and the surrounding barangays of Caparispisan, Caunayan and Balaoi in Pagudpud.

The run offered athletes the opportunity to join a race while marveling at the natural wonders of Pagudpud. With its panoramic views, beginner-friendly terrain and three race distances, namely 3km (Fun Hike), 14km and 27km trails, the event was an amazing kick-off to the 2018 running season.
