NLR Learning Laboratory

NLR Learning Laboratory. The North Luzon Renewables (“NLR” or the “Company”) Learning Laboratory Program aims to bridge the issues on the environment, climate change and renewable energy with classroom learning by developing learning modules and lesson guides with Pagudpud’s teachers.

Last June 2017, 40 teachers from all elementary and high schools in Pagudpud visited the NLR windfarm for the initial content development workshop where NLR technical staff shared their expertise and experience on biodiversity conservation through environmental protection, renewable energy’s role in mitigating against the effects of climate change, best practices on solid waste management and community safety. Teachers then integrated these issues into the subject areas of Science, English and Values Education. Through the Learning Laboratory Program, NLR encouraged teachers to integrate a “site visit” component to the lesson guides for their students to have a greater appreciation of the different learning opportunities available at the windfarm.

The idea is for the windfarm to become a living and learning laboratory for the students of Pagudpud and Ilocos Norte. NLR is launching the learning modules on November 2017.
